5. How is the journey connected with the plan of escape that occurs to him moments before he is hanged?  He is seeing things with such great detail.  He can hear what the insects are doing and see veins on the leaves.  Also he falls asleep when he is running.  And when he wakes up he is at his house.  He could escape through the water.  Then run to his house.
